I’ve been a Linux and Happiness Engineer for as long as I can remember. I began working with Linux servers, WordPress and support at a very young age, and this has been my profession for more than a decade now.

I am self-taught and always looking to learn more. As I learn things, I like to share it with people like you.

I love nothing more than a gorgeous terminal window and helping people use open source software. Except for maybe taking pictures of LEGOs doing random and mundane things — we will call it a tie.

Between 2013 and 2019, I was the Technical Team Lead at Rainmaker Digital, where I led the technical support team for StudioPress, Synthesis, and the Rainmaker Platform.

During my years at Rainmaker Digital, the company grew from a few employees to over 60 and became an 8-figure business that was eventually acquired by WP Engine — parts of it, anyway.

I’ve had the privilege to work on some fantastic projects in the past several years, and I’m excited about what I’m developing now.

These days, most of my time is spent at Mad Pony with my lovely wife — Liv Pond —, where we share knowledge about WordPress.

We also help people combat censorship on the internet and stay private with projects like 🙅‍♀️ Ads No More!, 🤖 Gitgit, 🔒 Accio Password, 📰 Wkly.Press and 🐘 Ood Sphere.

What others say?

James was a diligent and efficient worker for us. His skills and work ethic were outstanding, and his dependability was top notch. I would highly recommend anyone looking for his expertise to consider hiring him.

I had the pleasure of working with James at Rainmaker Digital for 5+ years, through multiple product launches both in the same and different departments. James’s passion for hosting performance, customer satisfaction and willingness to step up with a smile are an asset to any team!
